In theory the mains voltage is a pure sine wave with a frequency of 50Hz. In practice, short pulses or spikes with an amplitude of sometimes more than 1000 volts are present on this sine. This pollution is caused by other users such as switching power supplies, large electrolytes or motors because these users draw large currents in very short moments. The sudden rise and fall in voltage introduces a series of high-frequency frequencies that can reach into the megahertz spectrum. The power supply of most devices cannot suppress this disturbance because the pulses travel capacitively through the power supply. The conversion ratio of a transformer therefore does not apply to this type of disturbance. As a result, the pulse retains its destructive energy while the sinusoidal voltage is transformed downward. The Hy-pe is not a spike protector, it is a state-of-the-art system that eliminates all disturbances in the mains voltage. The Hy-pe is a five-stage filter, consisting of five stages, each with its own function.

a) A current protection protects your system and the Hy-pe itself against long-term currents that are too high.
b) The high frequency filter rounds off the pulses and thus removes the highest frequency components of the disturbance.
c) The remains of the high-frequency pulses are converted into heat by an energy absorber.
d) The low-frequency interference is now filtered out of the voltage
e) The remainder of the low-frequency disturbances is now converted into heat by a second energy absorber.

The result is a pure and clean sinusoidal signal that contains little or no disturbing elements. The Hy-pe is a compact and easy to install system that is simply placed between the mains cable and the device. The output cable is kept as short as possible so that it picks up as little interference from the environment as possible. The input for the mains voltage is a device plug as is often found on good audio equipment. As input cable you use the power cable that was plugged into your audio device before. So you actually place the Hy-pe between your old power cable and your audio device. For the best result, we recommend that you use a properly shielded mains cable, which has less stray field and therefore gives a better result.
