Creek Evolution 100P

Power Amplifier 2x55 Watt

Who needs a power amp?  Well, you do, if you use a digital or analogue pre-amplifier like the EVOLUTION 50CD or 100CD, with built-in volume control.  It is also possible you already own an integrated amplifier like the EVOLUTION 100A and wish to bi-amp your system to power difficult loudspeaker loads. This new 115W (into 8 Ohms) power amplifier forms part of the new generation EVOLUTION 100 range of products. Housed in a slim case with engraved front panel and solid control knobs, it’s finished with either a black or silver brushed aluminium front panel. The EVOLUTION 100P uses a massive 350 Watt toroidal mains transformer with separate windings for high and low current analogue and control circuitry. This solution produces a good power to weight ratio and low magnetic interference. Creek’s design policy of connecting several small low impedance capacitors in parallel creates an ultra-high specification capacitor to smooth the DC and helps to produce a very powerful and accurate sound from such a relatively small amplifier. This power amplifier has a similar high-end, bi-polar transistor, Class-G power amplifier circuit, to the highly rated EVOLUTION 100A, also developed by David Gamble.  It achieves very high open-loop gain and low distortion for a smooth and powerful sound. Featuring a pair of Sanken 15Amp power transistors, with built-in thermal compensation for rapid bias tracking performance. The EVOLUTION 100P Power Amplifier circuit has very low output impedance and is also able to deliver high output current. This combination will provide exceptional speed and control over most loudspeakers. A simple unity gain pre-amplifier selects between balanced XLR and direct un-balanced RCA inputs, to enable the user to input two different signals and select between either, on the fly, if required. It is fully protected from over-current, over-temperature and DC faults and will trigger the output and input relays to disengage immediately if an error occurs.

OPTION Sequel mk3 MM/MC Phono Module
Creek Audio has always been a fan of the vinyl disc. For those consumers who have an interest in enjoying this alternative source of high quality music, there are few amplifiers available today equipped to deal with this as standard. All Creek integrated amplifiers, from 1993 have been designed to accept plug-in Phono modules, to enable vinyl disc reproduction. The latest Creek plug-in Phono pre-amp is called Sequel mk3. It is designed to match a wide-range of MM and MC cartridges and can be fitted to the latest integrated amps from Creek, namely the Evolution 50A, Evolution 100A. It can also be fitted to older Creek amps. Please read a definitive list below. The module must be fitted inside the amp, in a slot that will change the Auxiliary Line input into a Phono input, so either the supplying dealer, or the user, must fit the Phono pre-amp before it can be used. The new generation Sequel mk3 circuitry has been developed to simplify the user experience and provide flexibility to match various types of cartridge in one module.  Not only can it be switched for 40dB or 50dB gain, the user can select 100pF or 200pF input capacitance and IEC low frequency roll-off, with a simple piano key switch on the PCB. The EVOLUTION amp’s display will automatically show Phono, when the amp is fitted with the Plug-in module and selected for that input. Exact matching of cartridge gain is not necessary, as the amplifier’s pre-amp volume control can always be used to increase or decrease the sensitivity. The main issue is to avoid input overload.
